The UFMG Microscopy Center, supported by BioIMGNet, successfully delivered the 1st Training in Transmission Electron Microscopy for Life Sciences. The program combined online theoretical instruction with an in-person hands-on module, aiming to expand national expertise in electron microscopy for the life sciences.
- 152 participants.
- 12 Brazilian states represented.
- 1,255 views of online content.
Online Module
The theoretical stage provided
- 3 hours of recorded video content on YouTube.
- 4 hours of live sessions with field specialists.
Participants were introduced to principles of TEM, sample preparation, and image evaluation.
Hands-on Training
After the online stage, 16 participants were selected for the in-person module at the UFMG Microscopy Center. They completed 40 hours of hands-on training, performing practical procedures in sample preparation, sectioning, imaging, and data interpretation.
Impact
The training strengthened national capacity in electron microscopy, broadened access to specialized education, and reinforced BioImagNet’s mission to support high-quality bioimaging training across Brazil.
