Who are we
Strengthening microscopy collaboration across Minas Gerais and Brazil.
The BioImaging Network of Minas Gerais (BioIMG Net) is a collaborative initiative supported by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), Expanding Global Access to Bioimaging. The Network was created to strengthen cooperation among multi-user microscopy facilities across the state of Minas Gerais, with a long-term vision of supporting connections throughout Brazil and Latin America.
BioIMG Net is hosted by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), one of Brazil’s largest universities and consistently ranked among the top institutions in Latin America. The Network brings together two microscopy centers at UFMG and nine partner institutions across Minas Gerais, forming a statewide consortium committed to enhancing access to advanced imaging:

This consortium integrates researchers dedicated to broadening access to microscopy, sharing expertise, and bringing science closer to society through public engagement and educational initiatives, including activities with high schools that often lack laboratory infrastructure.
BioIMG Net operates as a branch of the Microscopy and Microanalysis Network of Minas Gerais (RMic), a statewide initiative that, since 2014, has promoted collaboration, technology sharing, and improved access to microscopy and microanalysis infrastructure. RMic was established with support from the Research Support Foundation of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) and has played a pivotal role in identifying regional needs and reducing inequities in access to advanced imaging technologies.
